2025: When Everything Went "Tits Up"
Happy 2025 to all my readers! May this year bring you the best in physical and mental health – though judging by how it's started, we might need all the wellness we can get. Let me break down what's been happening, and trust me, it's been a lot.
Political Chaos in America
The political landscape has shifted dramatically with Donald Trump's return as the 47th President. His immediate move to raise tariffs on certain nations has raised eyebrows – especially considering these are countries you really don't want to upset. Let's just say if they decided to retaliate with their own tariffs on certain substances, many folks might find themselves going cold turkey (if you catch my drift).
In a poignant turn of events, we said goodbye to Jimmy Carter. One might say he took the ultimate step to avoid the inauguration. Speaking of absences, Michelle Obama was notably missing from the ceremony. As Barack Obama fulfilled his ex-presidential duties, you could almost hear Michelle's words echoing: "I ain't going wherever that MF is."
The new administration has been aggressive with immigration enforcement, rounding up undocumented immigrants with the same intensity as federal agents in Diddy's residence. The United States is looking anything but united these days.
Meanwhile in the UK...
Things aren't much better across the pond. We've witnessed some deeply disturbing cases in our justice system. The Southport killer received a 52-year sentence for the murders of young girls. Then there's Lucy Letby – remember her? The nurse convicted of harming babies in her care? Somehow, her friends thought it appropriate to throw her a birthday celebration. (I'll let you process that one.)
In Glasgow, multiple child sex offenders were found guilty of similar offenses. I'm still waiting to see the same level of public outrage and riots that other issues seem to trigger.
Some Good News (Finally!)
On a brighter note, I'm thrilled to share that my work-in-progress show, "The Good, The Bad and the Cockney," was a smashing success! The characters resonated with the audience, and the new material landed perfectly. Keep your eyes peeled for more shows across the country leading up to the big one.
