I didn’t know about this show until friends of mine forwarded the preview via what’s app. Tbh my first reaction was, “rah Shabba got a documentary I’ll watch that!” How wrong was I? “ I’m not watching no Broke Black Mountain” “
on that” I rather watch Man Utd for 90mins.

Was the cries from the culture. Well I’m here to share with you all, this show was more than that. Great acting by the cast, Lennie James and Sharon D Clarke, their roles was on point. Lennie James love interest played by Ariyon Bakare alongside the rest of cast contributions made a show, I be real alot of culture demographically didn’t give it the time of the day. Now these can be reason they can only explain. But as the Cockney Prince my mind was open to stories and journeys and that when it stopped there to openness. I’m not ignorant to shut off to the subject matter. I recognise black people still need to address sensitive topics. But if you get offended by couple of naked black geezers scenes, and it's rhetoric’s. The Diddy trial isn’t for you. A story of not living your truth and the effects of what can be devastating. Without giving too much away, Sharon D Clarke emphasises the black woman effect in certain scenes. Which brings home the realities if you dont appreciate what you got . Somebody else will and well. I witnessed a family who could easily fit into Albert Square next door to the Mitchells. Characters alot of us could identify with. This is why black stories aren’t just financial struggle and Slavery. They come in all shapes and sizes. May our stories keep being told for all sides. 7/10
